Xartec Salut receives funding from the Generalitat de Catalunya to reinforce its role in boosting health technology transfer in Catalonia

The network, led by the Institute for Health Research and Innovation (IRIS) at UPC, now exceeds 2,000 researchers and comprises 122 research groups, 32 institutions, and 19 affiliated entities — expanding its strength and contribution within the Catalan health ecosystem. The renewal enables broader collaboration with industry, associations, and public bodies, while consolidating key initiatives that drive research and technological transfer with direct societal impact.

The UPC launches IRIS, a new leading institute for health research and innovation

The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC) has officially launched the Institute for Research and Innovation in Health (IRIS). Building on the legacy of the Biomedical Engineering Research Centre (CREB), IRIS aims to become one of Catalonia’s leading centres for research and development in health and medical technologies. One of its main goals is to drive meaningful transformation in the healthcare system and generate real impact on people’s lives.
