ClimaSalud-IA achieves clinical validation at Hospital Universitari Mútua Terrassa, advancing solutions to anticipate climate-related health risks
The project, led by researchers from the B2SLab research group, integrates meteorological, environmental and clinical data to anticipate the effects of extreme heat on vulnerable patients. Validation in a real clinical setting at the Hospital Universitari MútuaTerrassa has demonstrated the feasibility of the solution and its potential to support clinical decision-making in identifying and monitoring patients particularly vulnerable to extreme heat events.

Maria Pau Ginebra, researcher at IRIS-UPC, receives the 2025 National Research Award in Engineering and Architecture
The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities has awarded the 2025 National Research Awards to three researchers from UPC. Maria Pau Ginebra, researcher and head of the BBT group at IRIS, has received the Engineering and Architecture Award for her pioneering career in biomedical engineering and in the development of biomaterials with clinical applications for bone regeneration.

Rob Surgical, a spin-off born at CREB. then IRIS, obtains CE marking for its ROB surgical robot in urology
Rob Surgical Systems, the Catalan medical technology company born from the research of Alícia Casals and Josep Amat at CREB —today part of IRIS UPC—, has obtained the European Union's CE marking for the use of its ROB surgical robot and its instruments in urological procedures. The milestone opens the door to commercializing the system in the European market and marks a decisive step in the company's growth strategy.

The second IRIS Annual Conference, jointly organised by IRIS, ESEIAAT, INTEXTER and FOOT, was held on 16 July at UPC’s Terrassa Campus, bringing together researchers, clinicians, companies and public institutions to explore how engineering and technology are transforming healthcare. Beyond showcasing cutting-edge research, the event highlighted a shared message: the future of healthcare depends not only on technological innovation, but also on new ways of working across disciplines.
