Barcelona becomes the meeting point of Spanish biomechanics at the XV Congress of the ESB Spanish Chapter

On 29 and 30 October, the ETSEIB hosted the XV Congress of the Spanish Chapter of the European Society of Biomechanics, organised by the BIOMEC Lab of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. Researchers, clinicians and companies from all over Spain shared around eighty contributions on how mechanics and engineering help us understand the human body, and IRIS UPC was there as sponsor, host and active participant.

IRIS research brings artificial intelligence to cancer diagnosis across Catalonia’s public hospitals

The DigiPatICS project, in which the UPC Image Processing Group (GPI) develops the artificial intelligence, has connected the eight hospitals of the Catalan Institute of Health in one of the largest digital pathology networks in Europe.

GRBIO researchers publish an open access book so that medicine and statistics speak the same language

Statistics and Health: Methodological Principles in Reporting Guidelines, written by members of GRBIO with Michael J. Campbell of the University of Sheffield, offers clinicians and statisticians a shared vocabulary for designing and reporting health research. It is free to download.

The IRIS management team visits research groups at Campus Nord

On Tuesday 22 September, the IRIS UPC management team, led by director Josep Maria Font, took advantage of the first meeting of the IRIS Board, held at Campus Nord, to visit four of the institute's research groups in their own spaces. The idea was simple: to meet the teams where they work every day and hear first hand about their main lines of research.

The Spanish Society of Artificial Intelligence in Biomedicine (IABiomed) gathered startups, hospitals and universities at the Sant Pau Modernist Site in Barcelona on 30 October. Our researcher Clara Prats, from the BIOCOM-SC group, took part in the academic session, explaining how a technological university can drive ethical and responsible innovation in health through artificial intelligence.
