Carles Mas presented IRIS's interdisciplinary biomedical engineering research alongside ten other UPC groups, in a session designed to connect university science with Catalonia's medical device industry.
Rob Surgical Systems, the Catalan medical technology company born from the research of Alícia Casals and Josep Amat at CREB —today part of IRIS UPC—, has obtained the European Union's CE marking for the use of its ROB surgical robot and its instruments in urological procedures. The milestone opens the door to commercializing the system in the European market and marks a decisive step in the company's growth strategy.

The EMSSE master's programme creates an award in memory of Professor Raúl Benítez Iglesias, one of its founders, presented for the first time to Pedro Simao during the graduation ceremony in Tirana.
The project, led by researchers from the B2SLab research group, integrates meteorological, environmental and clinical data to anticipate the effects of extreme heat on vulnerable patients. Validation in a real clinical setting at the Hospital Universitari MútuaTerrassa has demonstrated the feasibility of the solution and its potential to support clinical decision-making in identifying and monitoring patients particularly vulnerable to extreme heat events.
