The second IRIS Annual Conference, jointly organised by IRIS, ESEIAAT, INTEXTER and FOOT, was held on 16 July at UPC’s Terrassa Campus, bringing together researchers, clinicians, companies and public institutions to explore how engineering and technology are transforming healthcare. Beyond showcasing cutting-edge research, the event highlighted a shared message: the future of healthcare depends not only on technological innovation, but also on new ways of working across disciplines.
The project, led by researchers from the B2SLab research group, integrates meteorological, environmental and clinical data to anticipate the effects of extreme heat on vulnerable patients. Validation in a real clinical setting at the Hospital Universitari MútuaTerrassa has demonstrated the feasibility of the solution and its potential to support clinical decision-making in identifying and monitoring patients particularly vulnerable to extreme heat events.
The new leadership will focus on strengthening interdisciplinary research, advancing technology transfer, and fostering research talent.
