BOBI focuses on designing bioinstructive materials inspired by nature to prevent infection and enhance regenerative outcomes in dental, oral, and maxillofacial therapies. Their work investigates the mechanisms governing bio/non-bio interactions, integrating physical properties with recombinant and natural polymers and peptides to create advanced biointerfaces. The group develops non-classical biomimetic mineralization for surfaces and scaffolds, biomaterials to improve mucosal and hard-tissue integration, and nanoparticle-based inks for 3D-printed oral scaffolds. Their research aims to advance oral and maxillofacial medicine through bioinspired, functional materials.
